Adaptive Ski Day: Freedom, Fun, and Community at Last Chance Lakes
There’s nothing quite like the feeling of gliding across the water on a hot summer day. For many of us, water skiing brings that rush of freedom, excitement, and joy. But for individuals living with disabilities, getting back out on the water can feel impossible until now.
Every summer, twice a year, we host Adaptive Ski Day at Last Chance Lakes in Utah, an event designed to give people with disabilities the chance to water ski again. With the help of adaptive water skiing equipment, participants get to experience that incredible feeling of movement, speed, and freedom proving that the water belongs to everyone.
A Partnership That Makes It Possible
We’re proud to partner with Neuroworx, a rehabilitation organization that shares our mission of helping individuals push beyond physical limitations. Together, we provide the tools, training, and support to make adaptive water skiing not just possible, but unforgettable.
This collaboration allows us to create a safe, encouraging environment where participants can test their limits, rediscover their confidence, and embrace the water with open arms.
The Power of Community Support
An event like Adaptive Ski Day doesn’t happen without an incredible community behind it. We are so thankful for the generosity of Raising Cane’s, Swig, and Twisted Sugar, whose donations helped fuel the day.
And we loved seeing support from the Tooele Transcript, the Utah Jazz Bear, and Deseret News, who came out to capture the stories and celebrate alongside us. Their presence amplified the joy, helping us share these powerful moments with even more people. Check out the Tooele Transcript article about Adaptive Ski Day HERE. Life-Changing Moments on the Water
The best part of the day? Watching participants light up as they got back on the water.
For many, adaptive water skiing isn’t just a sport it’s a life-changing experience. It’s the chance to feel free again, to realize that disability doesn’t define what’s possible. We heard participants describe it as empowering, joyful, and even “like I can do anything.”
The sound of laughter, the cheers from families, and the smiles at the end of each run those are the moments that remind us why we do this.
Why Adaptive Ski Day Matters
Adaptive sports like water skiing are about more than recreation. They’re about building confidence, overcoming barriers, and reminding people of their strength. At Last Chance Lakes, the water becomes a space of possibility, where limits fade and potential shines.
For families and volunteers, the day is just as impactful. Watching loved ones rediscover freedom on the water is an emotional, unforgettable experience that creates ripples of hope throughout the community.
Capturing Feel-Good Stories That Inspire
One of our favorite parts of Adaptive Ski Day is capturing and sharing these powerful stories. Every participant’s journey is unique, but they all highlight the same truth: resilience, joy, and community can overcome any obstacle.
By documenting these experiences, we get to spread awareness about adaptive sports in Utah and show the world how inclusion creates life-changing opportunities.
Looking Ahead
As the sun set on another Adaptive Ski Day at Last Chance Lakes, we were filled with gratitude for the participants who inspire us, the partners who make it possible, and the supporters who bring the event to life.
These are the kinds of days that remind us why we do what we do: helping people overcome challenges, rediscover freedom, and write stories of courage and joy.
And we can’t wait to do it all again next summer.
